Expectations vs. reality

When reality doesn't meet expectations, that's when people get disappointed. Some people have high expectations in life, of people and of themselves. You can control some things in life but you can't control everything. You can keep pushing yourself to do better until you meet your expectations as long as you are determined enough. But some things are out of your control, and when that happens, you just have to accept it and move on. And when people around you don't live up to your expectations, the only person who gets hurt is yourself.

"Sometimes we expect more from others, because we would be willing to do that much for them."

People who have high expectations tend to care more than others, put more heart into things, stay up at night when things don't go as plan and just give their 100 percent in everything they do. And when other people just don't get you, that's when it becomes exhausting. They don't get why you care so much, stress over little stuff or just why it matters to you. And it can be so tiring that sometimes you just feel like not giving a damn anymore. But sometimes all you need is for someone to understand why you're doing what you're doing. Another person who feels the same way or someone who you can confide in. And when the results turn out better than expected, it just feels like everything you've been through is worth it. And then you repeat the whole process again.

But sometimes reality doesn't meet expectations. Sometimes things just don't go as planned. People won't always appreciate your efforts and they won't always understand you. The world has become so realistic that you may find yourself drowning in countless disappointments until you stop trying one day.

It's important to know your limits and when to take a step back occasionally. It may be that your expectations are so high that it becomes a burden to those around you. Focus on the things that actually matter, the things that you will keep with you along life. Don't stress yourself so much and don't let unnecessary things affect the relationships in your life. Remember that everything life throws at you makes you grow as a person.

Keep swimming & don't give up so easily (:
